Campus
Minister Named Emlenton Pastor
Bishop
Donald Trautman of the Roman Catholic Diocese of
Erie has announced that Fr. Jim Faluszczak, Campus
Minister at Clarion University of Pennsylvania since
2001, has been named Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel
Church in Emlenton, while continuing as full-time
Campus Minister. The assignment becomes effective
on May 26, 2008 and continues for a term of four
years, concurrent with the remainder of his term
as Campus Minister. Fr. Jim will change residences
from Immaculate Conception Rectory in Clarion to
St. Michael Rectory at that time, and will commute
to Clarion in order to address the ongoing spiritual
needs of the University Community.
The
opportunity to become a pastor comes about with
the retirement of Fr. Conrad Kraus, pastor of St.
Michael Church since 2001. Asked what he looks forward
to most as a pastor, Fr. Jim states that “accompanying
the parishioners of St. Michael on their journey
of faith and assisting them to know more closely
the presence of Christ in their lives as individuals
and as a community.”
Fr.
Faluszczak earned the degrees of Master of Education
from Duquesne University and Master of Divinity
from Christ the King Seminary. He is a 1991 graduate
of Gannon University. A native of Erie, he attended
McDowell High School and St. George Grade School.
His
previous priestly assignments include Parochial Vicar
at St. Catherine Church in DuBois and Theology Teacher
at DuBois Central Catholic High School (1994-1997),
Chaplain at the Federal Corrections Institution in
McKean County (1997-98), Theology Teacher and Campus
Minister at Elk County Catholic High School in St.
Marys (1997-2001), and Campus Minister at Clarion
University. He was ordained a priest in 1996.
He
is a member of the Association for Supervision and
Curriculum Development, National Catholic Educational
Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and Catholic Campus
Ministry Association.
Fr. Jim has been active in the Clarion community as
a member of the Community Relations Board, Criminal
Justice Advisory Board, Clarion Area Ethnic Tolerance
Committee, and the Alcohol, Drug, and Violence Coalition
of Clarion University. He looks forward to getting
to know the Emlenton community and working with the
people of St. Michael Parish to continue their tradition
of faith.
